A branch manager of Afghan United Bank has been killed by unidentified assailants in Kabul, in what appears to be another incident highlighting rising urban crime.
Sources confirmed that the attack took place on Tuesday in the Qala-e-Najarha area of Khair Khana, within the 11th police district of the city.
The victim, identified as Barakatullah Kohistani, was reportedly stabbed to death while on his way to work.
According to sources, the attackers later moved his body to a nearby small room in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.
His body was eventually discovered by his father, who tracked his son’s mobile phone to locate him.
Kohistani was the only son in his family and a father of two children. The motive behind the killing and the identity of the perpetrators remain unknown.
Taliban authorities in Kabul have not yet commented on the incident, despite growing concerns over an apparent increase in criminal activity in different parts of the country.
Angle Analysis:
The قتل highlights a concerning rise in urban crime and raises serious questions about the Taliban’s ability to maintain security in major cities, particularly in Kabul.
