Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised the US rescue of a downed pilot, calling it a “major victory.”
In a video message on Sunday, Netanyahu congratulated US President Donald Trump and said the operation showed that “free societies” can overcome threats with courage and determination.
He also said the mission reaffirmed the principle that “no one is left behind.”
Referring to Israel’s past rescue operations, Netanyahu described Trump’s decision as “bold” and praised his leadership.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following recent military developments.
