At least 19 Afghan migrants have died after a boat carrying asylum seekers sank off the coast of Bodrum in Turkey’s Mugla province.
Turkish authorities said all passengers on board were Afghan nationals.
According to Turkish media, the rubber boat capsized on Wednesday morning due to rough sea conditions.
The coast guard initially recovered 11 bodies, but the death toll later rose to 19 as search operations continued.
Twenty survivors were rescued and transferred to medical centers for treatment.
Reports indicate that one of the victims was an infant.
Local officials said search and rescue operations are ongoing, and investigations into the exact cause of the incident are underway.
The boat was reportedly moving at high speed and did not stop despite warnings from the coast guard before capsizing.
