Documents show that Taliban authorities have required students at Kabul University to sign a pledge committing to a set of rules imposed by the group.
According to the documents, students must agree to attend prayers in congregation, grow beards, wear caps and follow Taliban regulations.
The pledge also requires students to avoid listening to music and to follow a specific dress code, including traditional clothing.
Reports indicate that the measures are not limited to Kabul University and have also been introduced in some private universities.
The document emphasizes adherence to the “Islamic Emirate system” and the Sunni sect.
Students are also required to refrain from any political activity or contact with political groups.
The move comes as the Taliban have previously banned political party activities in Afghanistan.
