Following Border Tensions, Torkham Crossing Reopens for Migrants Only

در پی بازگشایی گذرگاه تورخم، شماری از مهاجران اجازه عبور یافتند

Taliban authorities say the Torkham border crossing has been partially reopened for the return and deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

Sediqullah Quraishi, a Taliban information official in Nangarhar, said only migrants are currently allowed to pass through the crossing.

The crossing has reopened after nearly 20 days of closure. It had previously been briefly opened and closed again following border clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces.

Despite the limited reopening, Torkham remains closed to commercial trade and general travel.

Reports suggest the move follows several rounds of talks between Taliban and Pakistani officials, but no agreement has yet been reached for a full reopening.

Pakistani authorities have not officially commented.

Torkham is one of the main transit and trade routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan and has been repeatedly closed and reopened in recent months.
