The Taliban’s Supreme Court says seven people have been publicly flogged in Zabul province.
In a statement released on Monday, the court said the punishments were carried out in Shahjoy district.
According to the statement, the individuals were sentenced to prison terms ranging from eight months to three years, along with 20 to 30 lashes.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized such corporal punishments, saying they violate international human rights standards.
