Atum Durald Arkapaw has become the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.
She received the award at the 2026 Oscars for her work on the film “Sinners.”
After accepting the award, Arkapaw thanked the women filmmakers present at the ceremony and said she would not have reached this point without their support.
Her win is considered one of the historic moments of this year’s Academy Awards.
