The novel “Shishak” by Afghan writer Hamid Homayoun Obaidi was introduced and reviewed during an online event attended by several Afghan writers, critics and cultural figures.
The 324-page novel has been published by the Asmaee Cultural Center, and the author describes its style as “ethereal realism.”
The story focuses on the life of women in Afghanistan and follows a young woman named Shapiri who is forced to flee after the killing of her father and brother.
During the discussion, participants examined the literary themes of the novel, including identity, war, love and gender roles in Afghan society.
