The Afghanistan Youth Orchestra and the exiled Afghanistan National Institute of Music have condemned the burning of thousands of musical instruments by the Taliban in Parwan and Laghman provinces.
In a joint statement, the groups said around 6,000 musical instruments were set on fire in Parwan.
They described the act as a direct attack on art and culture and an attempt to erase Afghanistan’s cultural identity and artistic heritage.
The statement said music has long been an essential part of Afghan society, helping strengthen social cohesion and reflect the country’s cultural diversity.
