The Taliban’s Supreme Court says six people, including one woman, have been publicly flogged in Balkh province.
According to a statement from the court, the punishments were carried out on March 13 and March 20 in front of local residents.
The court said those punished included five men and one woman but did not provide details about the charges against them.
Human rights groups have repeatedly criticized such corporal punishments, saying they violate international human rights standards.
