The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice says its inspectors have carried out market checks in several provinces.
According to a statement, a number of shops and commercial centers were sealed for what the ministry described as “violations of Islamic rules.”
The ministry added that owners and managers of these businesses have been referred to judicial authorities.
Taliban officials said the actions were part of the inspectors’ religious duties.
Similar incidents of shop closures and restrictions on business activities have been reported in recent months.
