Local sources in Takhar and Badakhshan provinces say the Taliban have transferred tanks and heavy weapons toward border areas with Pakistan.
Four sources told Amu that the equipment was loaded on Thursday afternoon from Khwaja Bahauddin district and moved south in military convoys.
According to the sources, the deployment comes amid rising tensions along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border and is aimed at preparing for possible clashes.
Sources also said some Taliban fighters in Takhar have reportedly abandoned their posts after being sent to other provinces, though details remain unclear.
